Family Access Manager

Family access enables you to share a paid Agave access plan with other Android™ and iOS™ devices in your family using the same ISY.

The following is required to use the Family Manager/Family Member access:

  • The Family Manager must have a paid Agave Access Level (excludes Basic Access and the weekly subscription All Access Pass)
  • The Family Manager must purchase the Family Access Manager plan
  • Family Access Manager will not be activated until 24 hours after the paid Agave Access Level is purchased.
    (for example, if you purchase both at the same time there will be a 24 hour delay until Family Access Manager is active. If you purchase Family Access Manager more than 24 hours after a paid Agave Access Level, then it will be active right away)

Purchase Family Access Manager

You must purchase Family Access Manager using the same Google or Apple account used to purchased Agave:

  1. Navigate in Agave to Settings > Account > Access Level
  2. Tap a Family Access Manager plan (+1, +2, or +3 for 1, 2, and 3 added members, respectively)
  3. Tap Buy to add Family Access Manager

Create access code

To create access code for another family member:

  1. Navigate in Agave to Settings > Account > Family Members
  2. Tap New Family Member
  3. Optionally choose what level of access will be shared by clicking the top access menu. You will only be able to choose access levels that you have purchased. This is useful if you want to limit the access level available to your family member. Choosing Full Access enables you to select/deselect add-ons you have purchased and/or are enabled on your ISY (Thermostat, Irrigation, Programs/Vars, Portal, and ELK)
  4. Set a Member Name, which is used only as a label you will recognize for this family member
  5. Set and verify the PIN, which you will need to securely share with your family member when they log into your ISY via Agave and each time you update this family member’s access. There is no way for you or anyone else to look up this PIN; if you forget this PIN you will need to re-create that family member access
  6. Tap Create Member

Join the family logon

To join the family logon,

  1. Launch Agave and log into the ISY
  2. Navigate to Settings > Account > Family Logon
    • If Family Logon does not display, verify there is an unused Family Access Code and then exit and re-launch Agave and begin again
  3. Enter the Family Access Code. To enter by QR Code,
    1. On the family manager’s device, tap the QR code button
    2. On the joining member’s device, tap the QRCode button
    3. Scan the QR Code displayed on the Family Manager’s device
  4. Enter the PIN
  5. Tap Join Family
  6. If you have more than one account on your device, select the account to use and tap OK

You now have access to Agave as a Family Member.

Change/Update Member access level

(for Family Managers)

  1. Navigate to Settings > Account > Family Members
  2. Tap the Member name you want to modify
  3. Enter the PIN for the member and tap OK
  4. Update Access Level, add-on access, Member name, or PIN, as desired
  5. Tap Update Member to save changes

Disable or Delete Member

(for Family Managers)

  1. Navigate to Settings > Account > Family Members
  2. Tap the Member name you want to disable or delete
  3. Enter the PIN for the member and tap OK
  4. Tap either Disable or Delete to disable or delete, respectively

Getting a new phone

If you set up Family Manager prior to May 2018

In May 2018 we updated the encryption used by Agave Family Manager. To improve security, only Family Managers can read the old encryption. If a Family Member sees an error message about “Family access is using an old encryption version…,” the Family Manager should:

  1. Go to Settings > Account > Family Members > family member to update
  2. Enter the PIN and tap OK
  3. Tap the Update Member button

The Family Member will get a notification that the encryption was updated, but won’t need to take any further action. Family Member access will resume.

If the Family Member gets a new phone

Still have old phone
The Family Member can stop using the code on the “old” phone so that it is available for use on the “new” phone.

  1. From the old phone, go to Settings > Account > Family Logon > enter pin
  2. Record the Member access Code for reuse on the new phone
  3. Press Clear.
    Now this code can be re-claimed on another device
  4. From the new phone, repeat steps to Join the family logon, entering the Member access Code recorded from step 2

Old phone is not available
The Family Manager will need to clear the code and generate a new one.

  1. Tap on the code and press the Delete button to purge the Family Member
  2. Then re-create a new code and share with the Family Member to join the family logon

If the Family Manager gets a new phone

  1. Log in to the Play Store or App Store with the same account you used to purchased Agave
  2. Family Manager is automatically restored
